Laila Ayyoub LCSW, LICSW

My name is Laila. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been employed as a therapist or counselor for over 30 years, in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. These include work in child welfare, addiction services, medical social work and mental health. I have extensive experience working with individuals who deal with complex medical problems including infectious disease, maternal and child health, oncology and chronic pain. My passion and primary focus for the past 12 years has been working with adults who are coping with the present-day impact of unresolved traumatic experiences.

Treatment Orientation

All people are one of a kind, but in this one regard we are alike: All of us come from a personal history and context: A past that got us through to where we are now. And is where all the choices and opportunities exist. Some things we may want to change, other things we may choose to accept as they are. Therapy can help explore and clarify which is which. Therapy can also offer some things you may need to go forward with your personal choices: Hope, perspective and someone who believes in you while you practice believing in yourself.

I’ve been a therapist for over three decades, so I’ve learned several effective ways to help. In addition to insight-oriented talk therapy, I view mind-body oriented therapy modalities as a particularly clear way to understand emotions and experiences. Some of these modalities include: EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Energy Psychology, Biofeedback and
Neurofeedback.

I provide individual therapy to adults who may be experiencing:

  • Depression and mood disorders, including perinatal mood disorders
  • Infertility
  • Anxiety, panic, worries, stress
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Complex developmental trauma
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Grief and loss
  • Difficulties with adjustment to life circumstances
  • Difficulties with negative self/body image
  • Gender dysphoria
  • Relational issues
  • Difficulties with managing chronic pain and complex medical diagnoses
